The IATEFL International House Global Reach Scholarship

The aim of this new scholarship, funded by International House, is to enable teachers living beyond the 'cheap flights' area of the world to attend the IATEFL annual conference in the UK.

It is not necessary to be a member of IATEFL to apply for this scholarship nor is it necessary to submit a proposal for presentation at the conference.

Two scholarships of £1,000 each will be awarded to cover the conference registration fee, long haul travel expenses and an IATEFL membership subscription (if the winner is not a member of IATEFL).  No one can be awarded the scholarship more than once.

To qualify applicants must:

  • be resident and native of distant countries
  • be practising teachers in primary or secondary education, state or private sector
  • have not attended an IATEFL main conference before
  • be unable to finance such a trip from their own resources.

To be considered applicants are asked to:

  • send a brief curriculum vitae
  • send a passport size photograph
  • submit an outline (between 200 and 300 words) of how they would share their learning experiences at conference with colleagues in their own countries

to Head Office by the deadline (see guidelines on the website).  After the conference the successful applicant(s) will be asked to write a report of their experiences and their usefulness for their local teaching context (deadline 1st June following conference) for possible publication in IATEFL VOICES and International House World.
