IATEFL is led by a team of eight trustees. All are members of the association and volunteers.

- Associates Representative
Six of these are elected by the IATEFL membership, whilst the Associates Respresentative is elected by IATEFL Associate teaching associations, and the SIG Representative is elected by the 16 SIG Coordinators.
