PRONSIG - online PCE: Games and gamification in pronunciation teaching: Bridging theory and practice

IATEFL Prononciation Special Interest  Group (LTSIG) is organizing  in Edinburgh on the 7th of April 2025, the IATEFL Pre Conference Event (PCE)

2025 marks 30 years since the publication of a pronunciation resource book that has graced the staff rooms and libraries of many English language teaching institutions around the world: Mark Hancock’s Pronunciation Games. At a time when pronunciation-focused publications were more limited in number and harder to access, Pronunciation Games was one of the early texts which gave teachers ideas about practical actionable tasks they could take into their own classrooms.
To celebrate this, PronSIG thought there could be no better time to revisit the idea of game play for pronunciation practice, as well as some of the ideas and theory behind what makes them effective.
