Joint event - the Hands Up project, GISIG and ELT teachers for Palestine: Emergent education in war zones

This webinar will begin with a short presentation by ELT author and co-founder of Dogme ELT, Scott Thornbury. The emergent curriculum The elements of a curriculum, such as the syllabus, the materials, and the assessments, are typically planned in advance, at a distance, and often without the involvement of the teachers who will implement them.
An emergent curriculum, on the other hand, is not pre-planned but evolves out of the immediate teaching/learning context, and is designed and managed by the teachers in dialogue with the learners. In this brief talk I will trace the history of emergent curricula in order to frame the presentations that will follow.
Scott’s talk will be followed by presentations by practising teachers in Gaza, Sudan and Ukraine who are continuing to work despite the dire situation.

The webinar will end with a Q and A session.
