BESIG - Point of Information! Using Debate for Pre-Service Learners

Preparing for the world of business means mastering some pretty advanced speaking skills in English: making persuasive arguments, defending a position and tactfully proposing alternatives. Apart from role-plays, how can pre-service learners practice using this type of language? Debating is a fun, structured way to develop critical thinking skills and practice public speaking. It teaches learners to listen carefully, examine issues from multiple perspectives and formulate an effective response quickly.
In this workshop, you’ll learn how to lead a debate for a small-sized group of learners in the British Parliamentary style, which favors logical arguments over rhetorical flair. You'll also be introduced to debating-practice activities that can be done with any amount of learners, developing skills that are transferable in nearly every job and help boost the confidence of any English learner.

Make sure you register timely as spaces are limited. Registration closes on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 5PM (UK time)
