TTEDSIG - Neurodiversity awareness for teacher trainers
Neurodiverse trainee teachers have the potential to become really successful teachers, but sometimes struggle to reach their potential on initial teacher training qualifications. This webinar will shine a light on the challenges these trainees face and suggest practical ways for teacher educators to remove barriers and build on trainees' strengths.
Speaker:
Erica Lindley
Erica worked in Spain, China and London before settling at St Giles Brighton where she became an approved CELTA and Delta trainer and worked on international teacher training projects. This sparked her interest in delivering sustainable, context-sensitive training for teachers at different stages of their careers. She is now Head of Teacher Training at St Giles Brighton where she manages and teaches on their pre-service and in-service teacher training courses and coordinates internal teacher development. Erica is also an Access Arrangements Assessor and qualified dyslexia tutor and she is passionate about helping neurodiverse students and teachers to achieve their goals. She regularly delivers training on neurodiversity for teachers and support staff in a variety of educational contexts. In her free time she enjoys going for walks with her little dog!
